Key Verses: Philippians 2:12-18, Ephesians 5:8-9

Three essentials for consistently shining brightly for Christ:

1. Spend time with God

We should desire and seek after God’s divine presence. Exodus 34:29-35 – Moses’ face was so radiant as he came down from Mount Sinai. For the Israelites seeing Moses was like seeing God.
2 Corinthians 3:12-18 – when we turn to the Lord, the veil covering our hearts is taken away and we reflect God’s glory which comes from the Lord.

2. Divine Power of the Holy Spirit

The divine power of the Holy Spirit is like a generator that supplies electricity so we can live as children of the light. Why do we need this divine power of the Holy Spirit? Ephesians 3:14 – the Spirit of the Lord is to empower us, strengthen us and guide us.
How do we shine in this crooked, depraved generation? This is answered by the third essential below.

3. Hold on to the Promises of God

Phillippians 2:16 – Hold on to the Word of God which is light.
Psalm 119 – Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. We have to bear the fruit of the light (goodness, righteousness, truth). Share the goodness of God with other people. This goodness of God comes from acts of kindness from God. When we live righteously and do what is right in the sight of God that is when this crooked and depraved generation will notice the distinguished difference.

We need to have these three essentials in our lives so that we can be a church and a people that lights up the city shining brightly for Christ.

If you would like to accept Jesus into your heart please pray the following prayer.
“Dear God, I am a sinner and need forgiveness. I believe that Jesus Christ shed His precious blood and died for my sin. I am willing to turn from sin. I now invite Christ to come into my heart and life as my personal Saviour.”

If you have just prayed this prayer and accepted Jesus as your Lord and Saviour, congratulations! We invite you to contact us as we would love to pray a blessing over your life and help guide you on your journey.

The next step. As a way to grow closer to Him, the Bible tells us to follow up on our commitment.

  • Get baptised as commanded by Christ.
  • Tell someone else about your new faith in Christ.
  • Spend time with God each day. It does not have to be a long period of time. Just develop the daily habit of praying to Him and reading His Word. Ask God to increase your faith and your understanding of the Bible.
  • Seek fellowship with other followers of Jesus. Develop a group of believing friends to answer your questions and support you.
  • Find a local church where you can worship God.

God bless you.
