The 2014 Father’s Day message from Pastor Danny Ng
Key Verse: Psalm 42:5, 11
We all have friends and family who help to guide us through this journey of life. Who, what and where can I put my trust? Nothing compares to the guidance that God gives to us in the Bible (Psalm 48:14). From Psalm 42-49 again and again it says to put my hope in God.
At times I feel discouraged, lonely, depressed. I wonder what I should do? As believers of Christ we must recognise the greatness of our God and affirm our belief by putting our hope in God. (Hebrews 11:1, 6) When our faith and hope is in line with freely expressing our love in praise and worship to God, God is pleased. When God is pleased He will give you whatever you ask in Jesus’ name (John 16:23-24).
If discouragement and sadness knocks on the door send joy to open it. Before we ask God for anything, we must come in agreement with the key verses to put your hope in God for I will yet praise Him my Saviour and my God.
5 Things to ask for in Jesus’ name:
1. Salvation for our loved ones (Acts 16:31)
Recently I went back to Malaysia to visit my family and celebrate my nephew’s birthday. My family was a varied bunch of religions and beliefs. Some were Buddhist, Christian or atheist. Life is so uncertain. I encourage you all put your hope in God to see your loved ones saved.
2. Security (Psalm 46)
In whom or what do you put your trust in these days? We always need the supernatural protection from God. You turn on the news nothing is really safe nowadays. We hear of the Ebola crisis, in a neighbourhood not too far from here they were recruiting people for ISIS. Put your hope in God because you never know what will happen.
3. Pray for Success
In the Bible, Success = doing God’s will. (Psalm 44:4, 7) God will give you the victory as you put your hope in Him. If we ask for something from God we should believe it will happen and not doubt (James 4).
4. Soundness of my mind and speech (2 Timothy 1:7)
Sometimes in life our attitudes can be out of alignment. The thoughts in our heart and mind will eventually be revealed by the things we say and do. Out of the abundance of our heart we speak. How do we bring our attitude and focus back to having that soundness of mind and soundness of speech? One of the best things we can do is bring back our focus and attention to God by praising and worshipping Him. Last week Pastor John Wright said the purpose and power of worship shifts you to focus on God and be in alignment with Him.
5. Serenity (Psalm 33:7)
Peacefulness, tranquillity and calmness are not reached by good works. Serenity is not achieved through alcohol and drugs. Real serenity comes from God alone (John 14:27).

If you would like to accept Jesus into your heart please pray the following prayer.
“Dear God, I am a sinner and need forgiveness. I believe that Jesus Christ shed His precious blood and died for my sin. I am willing to turn from sin. I now invite Christ to come into my heart and life as my personal Saviour.”
If you have just prayed this prayer and accepted Jesus as your Lord and Saviour, congratulations! We invite you to contact us as we would love to pray a blessing over your life and help guide you on your journey.
The next step. As a way to grow closer to Him, the Bible tells us to follow up on our commitment.
- Get baptised as commanded by Christ.
- Tell someone else about your new faith in Christ.
- Spend time with God each day. It does not have to be a long period of time. Just develop the daily habit of praying to Him and reading His Word. Ask God to increase your faith and your understanding of the Bible.
- Seek fellowship with other followers of Jesus. Develop a group of believing friends to answer your questions and support you.
- Find a local church where you can worship God.
God bless you.
