Key Verse: Jeremiah 17:7-8

The world is always changing, the economy goes up and down but there is one thing that we can trust, one thing that is always constant, that is God. Whatever God promises you He has the power to bring it to pass. When we choose to trust in God, believe in Him and His promises to you He will bless you.

Some benefits of trusting and putting your hope in God according to Jeremiah 17:7-8:

1. You are immovable (v.8)

A tree that has a constant supply of water is deeply rooted in the ground, it is immovable. As New Testament believers God is our source, He is the wealth of Living Water. Even when we face unexpected obstacles if we remain in Him we are immovable.

Examples of God blessing His people in times of famine:

  • In times of famine God continued to bless Isaac (Genesis 26:12-13).
  • God gave Joseph wisdom to prepare for famine. The wealth of the world came to Joseph and Pharaoh, that is the transfer of wealth. (Deuteronomy 8:18)
  • I saw an interview on TV about a successful business man. He was unemployed and living in an empty warehouse, He prayed to God for help and God gave him an idea to make wealth.

If we learn to trust in God, draw close and hold fast to Him, He can bless us also.

2. You need not be anxious (v.8)

When we hear about recession and job cuts it is very natural for us to feel fearful but the Lord can give us ideas to make wealth. (Philippians 4:6) Do not fear. Trust in the Lord and draw close to Him in prayer. He will protect you and grant you peace. Don’t be anxious about anything. Don’t be anxious about your finances. God is able to provide.

3. Fruitfulness (v.8)

Nor will cease from yielding fruit. If you trust in Him you will not cease to be fruitful or productive in the years of drought. We can prosper in times of drought and famine.

In the world we hear about wars, rumours of war, recession, job cuts. If you are affected by job cuts keep thanking the Lord for a better job, thank you Lord for promotions. When you feel you want to have a child lay your hands on your tummy and say thank you Lord I am fruitful, I have life in my womb. It is a way of giving God the glory. When we trust in the Lord there are benefits: you are immovable even in times of violent storms, you need not be anxious, and you are fruitful.

If you would like to accept Jesus into your heart please pray the following prayer.
“Dear God, I am a sinner and need forgiveness. I believe that Jesus Christ shed His precious blood and died for my sin. I am willing to turn from sin. I now invite Christ to come into my heart and life as my personal Saviour.”

If you have just prayed this prayer and accepted Jesus as your Lord and Saviour, congratulations! We invite you to contact us as we would love to pray a blessing over your life and help guide you on your journey.

The next step. As a way to grow closer to Him, the Bible tells us to follow up on our commitment.

  • Get baptised as commanded by Christ.
  • Tell someone else about your new faith in Christ.
  • Spend time with God each day. It does not have to be a long period of time. Just develop the daily habit of praying to Him and reading His Word. Ask God to increase your faith and your understanding of the Bible.
  • Seek fellowship with other followers of Jesus. Develop a group of believing friends to answer your questions and support you.
  • Find a local church where you can worship God.

God bless you.
